Located around the ruins of its castle, the village of Montbrun des Corbières is perched on a rock outcrop. Within only a few kilometers among the vines and the cypresses, we stumble upon the church Notre-Dame de Colombier, a beautiful example of early Romanesque architecture dating from the 11th century (the bell-tower is 13th).

The legend tells that the Lord of Montbrun left on the crusades and that, on his return, his son who did not recognize him set his dogs on him. The father died in the night and the next morning his son understood what he had done and was flooded with remorse. Seeing a dove come to rest on the ground he decided to build a chapel at the exact place where its feet had touched.
